It was both a great weekend (I placed 3rd in my age group) and a painful one (I had a bad fall on my bike).

Full Results are here (sportstats.ca)

Ok, so the story about the fall... I was going down the big hill near the end of the course. I was going about 60 km/h and came to a big s-turn. On the second corner I realized I was going to fast and pulled on my back brake. Bad move, 'cause the back wheel locked and came out from under me. I fell on my left side and skidded onto the shoulded, turned around and went head first into the ditch.

I was pretty lucky the way I fell because I only had cuts and scrapes. Apparently two other people fell after me at the same corner. They both had to go the hospital. The damage to my bike was minimal (the handle bar tape is the only thing needing replacing). I was able to get back on my bike and finish the race and finish 32nd overall. I actually placed 4th in my age catagory, but the winner (Kyle Guembel from Sudbury) was in my age group, so he didn't count for the age group prizes. Either way I placed in the top 50% of my age group which was my goal for this season. Now I have to keep that up for the rest of the season.

The skid mark I left on the road.

The creek (ditch) I landed in.

Looking up the road from where I went into the ditch.

The damage... my left fore arm, left hand, right hand, thigh, and left ankle. The leg and arm are from sliding. I think the ones on my hands are from the gravel shoulder. I think my ankle hit the road hard because its swollen, but not cut too badly. There is also some scrapes on my left shoulder, but it's really hard to take pictures of your back, so you'll just have to take my word for that. I highly advise against using these to slow you down.

What I was wearing at the time. You can see the hole in the back of the left leg that was left from the skidding.
