This is my tribute to M.C. Escher's drawing... I did this in 3-D using
rather complicated techniques to make plaster replicas of my hands.
I used a flexable molding compound (like the stuff the dentist uses to make
a mold of your teeth) to make a mold of my hands. Obviously I did this
one at a time... which is kind of awkward. Anyway, once I had those
I filled them with plaster and let it set. I pulled the mold off, and
I had an almost perfect plaster cast of my hands. That was the hard
part... all I had to do now was cut the wrists at an angle, place them, and
whip out my air brush. I painted the whole thing in a morning because
I was in a rush to finish it. After these pictures were taken I made
a frame for it (not pictured) out of plywood and 2 x 2s. This was given
a texture, and airbrushed a light blue. I think it ended up really
well, and was pleased with the finished product.
